about

A new five track EP from the Liverpool Brel Heads. 'Grand Jacques' showcases five new recordings and the debut appearance of Brooke Sharkey, singing and playing guitar. The E.P. features two translations from the band's accordionist, Matthew Wood, 'Jojo' and a new English language version of 'Les Bourgeois'.

The EP covers the beginning and ends of Brels carreer, the title song from 1953 and 'Jojo' from his final album in 1977.

'Mazurka Limouson' is a traditional melody - a mainstay of the Dead Belgian set since their debut in 2007.

''Exceptional arrangements that exploit every talent of every performer to the full. Translations that, rather than simply convert songs from French to English, skilfully adapt them for a new audience. Dead Belgian bring the passion and grace of Brel’s songs to a modern audience like no one else can.''
